If you are looking for cool air, warm sun, lush greenery and an insight to coffee making, El Carmen Estate in El Salvador offers you all that. Located in the Eastern part of the country known as Ilamatepec, the estate lies in the heart of a stunningly beautiful coffee forest, at 1300 meters above sea level. El Carmen is located on the banks of Concepcion de Ataco, in the district of Ahuachapán, which is close to Guatemala border. It was founded in 1930 by Mr. Agustin Alfaro Moran and has been maintained through four generations.

The former manor house of the estate was built over 100 years ago and is fully refurbished into a charming 3 star country hotel with 9 rooms. Cafe Tin restaurant at the hotel serves Salvadorian, American and fusion dishes.

While staying at the El Carmen Estate, you may want to spend a few hours taking the Ataco Gourmet coffee experience coffee tour where you can learn about all the steps involved in cultivation and manufacturing of coffee. The area also offers ATV, horseback riding, zip lining and canopy tours through the coffee plantations.

It is also a great place to just relax with a good book while soaking in the peaceful scenery of the rolling hills, colorful flowers and tropical birds.
